As we lay the foundation for Bel Cavallo’s future, one of the most exciting milestones on our horizon is the construction of our new barn. This barn represents our dedication to creating a space where our horses can thrive, and it reflects the care and intention we put into every part of Bel Cavallo. With plans that emphasize functionality, comfort, and care, the barn will play a central role in our breeding program and the care of our beloved horses.

Designing a Space for Excellence

The new barn will feature eight spacious stalls, designed with the comfort and safety of our horses in mind. Each stall will provide ample room for our broodmares, foals, and our cherished horses like Balu and Blizzie. We’re also preparing a space for a new addition, a horse traveling to us soon from California to start a new chapter in a safe and loving home. Thoughtful details, such as proper ventilation, soft footing, and secure fencing, will ensure that every horse is cared for in the best possible environment.

Beyond the stalls, the barn will include essential spaces for care and operations. A dedicated tack room, feed storage, and grooming areas will streamline daily routines, while wide aisles and durable materials will create a safe and efficient workspace for our team. Every element is being designed to balance practicality with the warmth and welcoming spirit of Bel Cavallo.

Building For Future Racehorses and Rescues

At the heart of our barn’s purpose is its role in supporting our breeding program and providing a nurturing environment for the horses in our care. With just two broodmares planned each year, we’re focusing on quality over quantity, aiming to produce exceptional foals who embody the best traits of their lineage. Our aim is to provide a nurturing space for mares during their pregnancies and for foals as they grow into yearlings.

The barn will serve as a hub for raising and caring for our horses, fostering a sense of security and well-being for every member of our herd, which includes many retired racehorses. By providing them with a safe, supportive environment, we hope to give these animals the care and dignity they deserve.

The remnants of the original barn, pictured below, serve as a poignant reminder of the rich equestrian heritage that came before us. While our new barn will introduce modern materials and amenities—and will be quite the upgrade over the prior barn—it will still be rooted in the traditions and legacy of this storied land.
