Breaking Ground at Bel Cavallo: The Barn Begins

We’ve officially broken ground, and it’s not just a symbolic milestone. This week marks the start of construction on our new barn, beginning with a key first phase: widening the driveway to support horse trailers.

It might not sound glamorous, but anyone in the horse world knows that access matters. Tight turns and narrow lanes simply don’t cut it when you’re hauling horses. Before we can bring broodmares and foals home—or welcome visiting rigs—our drive needs to be ready to handle the traffic that comes with a working horse farm. This step may seem small, but it’s a crucial foundation for what’s to come.

With all of the rain we’ve had this season, this moment has been a long time coming. We’ve had to be patient through delays, watching and waiting for the right conditions. So finally seeing the equipment roll in and the earth begin to shift felt like a deep breath. It’s the beginning of progress, and we’re hopeful the skies will give us just enough of a break to keep things moving forward.

This barn will be the heart of Bel Cavallo, with eight thoughtfully designed stalls, space for our broodmares and foals, and room for our beloved horses like Blizzie and Balu. It’s not just a place to house animals; it’s a home we’re building from the ground up—with care, intention, and a whole lot of anticipation.

We’ll continue sharing updates as each phase unfolds. For now, we’re just grateful to be moving forward, step by step.
